It’s official: walking season has arrived! Now, we just have one question for you: are you ready for it?
Some walk events are shorter, like a 5K or few hour fundraiser. Others are a little longer in length and will require more stamina. The key to successfully participating in and completing each walk is to be completely prepared for what you’re getting yourself in to.
Here are a few tips and tricks to make sure you’re completely, 100% prepared for your next walk:
- Join a team-the more people you have supporting the cause of your choice with you, the better! Whether you’re passionate about autism awareness, Alzheimer’s or breast cancer, you can do more to contribute when you have a team helping you reach your goals.
- Get the right walk gear. Awareness t-shirts are great for your walk wardrobe and everyday wear. They’re light and comfortable, which is just what you need to comfortably complete a walk, and when you wear them around you’re showing your support in the fight for a cure for the disease of your choosing.
- Get creative. These events are about spreading awareness, but they’re also about fundraising. Put your thinking caps on: how can you creatively come up with the funds to contribute to this cause? The best way to start is to set a goal for yourself. How much can your team realistically come up with? Make that your starting point and from there, figure out how to raise that amount.
- Be aware of the weather! The last thing you want is to be uncomfortable when you participate in these events. Yes, it is meant to raise money for a good cause, but it’s also meant to be fun. If the weather is cooler, have a hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants or light windbreaker on hand to stay comfortable.
These are just a few of our ideas on how to really prepare for your next walk! Are you ready for yours? Which walk are you participating in? Let us know!
Fight on!
